What’s It All About?

The Independent Achievers Network was founded in 1992 in Red Deer, Alberta by two women – Heidi Dandurand and Jo-Ann Grimwood, who wanted to continue networking after the Business Women’s Network ceased to exist. The two business women started a network with a limitation of one business per business category. In 1996, the business category restriction was lifted and Independent Achievers evolved into a wonderful networking organization.  Today our focus is on Brainstorming and Empowering Women.

Independent Achievers (IA) is a Women’s Brainstorming and Empowerment Group.  We meet on the second Thursday of the month in various restaurants in Red Deer.

Normally this is how the luncheons run:  From 11:30-12:00 ladies arrive and socialize, 12:00-1:00 we have a round table discussion on a pre-determined topic (after a brief around the table “what’s new with you” session.  At 1:00 pm some ladies need to leave, but for those who can stay, the venue is open for more discussion until 1:30.

We now order from the menu or eat from the buffet (if available) so that there is no extra cost, and each person simply pays for their own lunch.

Guests are always welcome!!!

For those who would like to become members, the perks include:  Having your name, business, bio and picture on the website under the Membership Directory page, with a different member being the “Spotlight Member” each month.  You would be able to have your business events advertised on the website under the “What’s Happening With Our Members?” page, be allowed to submit articles for the “Articles” page, and participate in group direction and changes.
